Type of Submissions to make
What should the projects be about. No theme is mentioned so I'm not sure what kind of submissions are accepted. Should it be about CI/CD / Infra Tooling / Productivity Tools / AI Tools / Web Apps . It would be better to mention some to help us get an Idea on what kind of Projects are expected.
Do the solutions have to integrate with GitLab in some way or just need to be open sourced?
Thank You

Hi, GitLab team member here. Great question! Have you looked at the resources https://gitlab.devpost.com/resources?
If you're looking for inspiration for the CI/CD catalog, take a look at https://gitlab.com/explore/catalog to see what kind of projects exist. How to build & publish them can be discovered at https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/ci/components/catalog.html
If you're looking for inspiration for AI experiments, you can find inspiration form what is possible over at https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/ai_features.html. Let your imagination run wild. Show us what you would love to see AI & GitLab do for to build & manage Software Faster.
If you're looking for inspiration how you can adapt GitLab see https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/issues/?sort=updated_desc&state=opened&label_name%5B%5D=quick%20win&label_name%5B%5D=Seeking%20community%20contributions&first_page_size=100 for small wins. For the larger ideas, you could take a look at a similar list where we're looking for assistance but are features to build: https://gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-/issues/?sort=updated_desc&state=opened&label_name%5B%5D=Seeking%20community%20contributions&label_name%5B%5D=type%3A%3Afeature&first_page_size=100
To get an idea what kind of features GitLab has, find the overview at https://about.gitlab.com/platform/. All code is available https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab. Perhaps this can inspire you to find an intersection between what I mentioned above and this list?
You could also think completely out of the box. For example, I'm aware a GitLab Apple/Android app exists, but I'm not sure what its state is and if you could team up with those maintainers? Another one out of the box would be an intersection between GitLab & the more recent AR devices?
We don't want to constrain you within boundaries, so that's why it's fairly open-ended. Your solution should have a practical use in the daily lives of GitLab's end-users. I do hope this helps?

Thanks Nick. So does that mean I got to use or integrate GitLab in some way to add value to the user? or contribute to GitLab itself?
Does that mean I can't just submit a project which doesn't directly add value to GitLab? Like some other OSS tool or anything else?

That's correct. It has to have a positive impact to the GitLab Community, which includes end-users and contributors. Thanks for asking the question and we'll see if we need to make adjustments to make that more clear. Suggestions welcome!
